Anthony Joshua Becomes New IBF Heavyweight Champions After Beating Charles Martin

Anthony Joshua made easy work of Charles Martin to fast track becoming new Heavyweight champion in just his 16th professional fight. Martin was clearly out of Joshua’s league and never really threw a meaningful punch in the round and half he lasted in there.

Anthony Joshua defeated Charles Martin what was a very easy win as he knocks out Martin in his second round and becomes new IBF World heavyweight champion. Charles Martin was never in the fight and Joshua’s solid right hand in second round dropped Martin once and another got knocked him out within a minute into second half.
Anthony Joshua becomes champion in just 16th fight of his career and now his managment faces a dilemma who to put in front of him. There are number of big fights but is he ready for the likes of Haye, Fury and Wilder ?. Eddie Hearns has already muted a potential date of 9th july for his first title defense which likely to be against IBF Mandatory.

Taking nothing away from Joshua, Charles Martin was a poor champion and hardly threw a punch in the round and half he survived in there. Joshua is still untested but he has the belt and if he plays his cards right sky is the limit as far as heavyweight boxing is concerned.

Joshua dropped Martin in second round with a big right hand and everybody knew at that point its just the matter of time. Straight away when martin got up another right dropped him again and this time he failed to get up in the 10 count. A bit premature stoppage but we all know he was going no where in this fight.
What next for Joshua ? as hinted in the post fight interview probably couple of more tune up soft fights this year and he will be just about ready for potentially a bigger fight early next year.

Tale of the Tape: Charles Martin however is no pushover and is sure to provide the biggest challenge of Joshua’s short career so far. Joshua has knocked out all of his previous 15 opponents and only Whyte survive more than 3 rounds against Young Joshua. But looking at the records of both Charles martin and Anthony Joshua there is not much between the two. One thing Joshua lacks however is the experience of big fights and that might comeback to haunt him.

Martin is three year older and have 24 fights to his name winning 23 and drawing 1 while there is a considerable difference in both fighters record that of total rounds fought where Martin leads with 74 to 32 rounds of Joshua. Having said that Joshua is a better athlete all round and only way Martin is going to win the fight is take Joshua to later rounds where he has never been before.

The fight will be shown live in the UK via PPV presented by Sky Box-Office however US fans can watch the fight live through Showtime channels (non-ppv). If you missed the live action of this fight, you can always tune in here for full fight replay video which are usually available immediately after the fight is over.
Fight Predictions: Its a massive fight for Joshua and so early in his career it might prove a turning point both if he losses and if he wins. Sky is the limit if he get past Martin and becomes IBF heavyweight champions which will open up potentially mega fights later in the year and early next year. A defeat here however will seriously put question marks about his ability at top level. I just think he is too fit and too hungry to be beaten and I am going with a knockout win for him inside 6 rounds
